About
Edwin Roald is an Icelandic golf course designer and journalist who has run an independent golf course design practice for ten years, designing or consulting in six countries. Born and raised in Iceland – the world’s most most active golf country per capita - Edwin carries a multi-national name that underlines his Norwegian and American descent.
After having established a career in sports journalism for Iceland’s largest daily newspaper, Edwin went to Great Britain to attend Guildford’ College’s Golf Studies program, and later to study golf course architecture with the European Institute of Golf Course Architecture and Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh.
Recently, Edwin Roald has hoped to inspire the golf world to break away from the eighteen-hole tradition in an effort to revitalize the game and the industry that now experiences a significant drop in participation. The concept can be viewed on www.why18holes.com.
